In a landscape where disagreements about gun rights and regulations can create deep divisions, WTTA remains committed to the belief that open dialogue is crucial to making meaningful progress on mental health and suicide prevention. Our organization embraces opportunities to work with groups and individuals who may not share the same views on firearms policy but still recognize the value of WTTA’s approach to bridging the gap between mental health and the gun community.
“We believe that meaningful change comes from conversation, not isolation,” Michael Sodini, Founder of Walk the Talk America, said Wednesday. “By appearing at events and partnering with organizations that may not fully agree with us on gun control, we can present alternative ideas and solutions beyond traditional debates. We aim to introduce perspectives that may be missing from those resources or conversations and ensure the audience is not just hearing from one side.”
WTTA acknowledges the responsibility to show up in spaces where its ideas might challenge the norm. Whether it’s at public forums, conferences, or community events, the organization feels it is vital to present its message of responsible firearm ownership, mental health care accessibility, and suicide prevention to audiences that are often bombarded with singular perspectives.
This open-door approach has enabled WTTA to build relationships that transcend ideological differences to save lives and promote mental wellness. WTTA firmly believes that the best way forward in preventing suicide by firearm is to foster collaboration, education, and understanding, no matter where one stands on gun control. We remain committed to protecting Second Amendment rights and are thankful for the partnerships we’ve created within the 2A community and the tech and healthcare industries. We are also grateful for those organizations with opposing ideologies who list us as a resource that allows their audience to learn about our non-restrictive solutions that respect fundamental freedoms and liberties.
Walk the Talk America will always take the opportunity to be involved in conversations around suicide prevention and mental health as it pertains to gun owners. Our opinions may not always be represented in final outcomes, but our voice is heard and our positions respected.
